By the time Penn State takes the field on Saturday in its regular season finale, it will know what it needs to do to reach the Big 10 championship game.

Penn State (9–2, 7–1 Big Ten) needs to beat Michigan State, and have Ohio State beat Michigan earlier in the day. Michigan owns the tiebreaker via a 49–10 rout of the Nittany Lions on Sept. 24.

The Nittany Lions have won seven games in a row since that loss, averaging nearly 40 points a game, while Michigan State is 3–8 overall, 1–7 in the Big Ten, and is coming off a close loss to Ohio State.

Michigan State has won three straight in the series.
