Thursday Night Bites: Rutgers at South Florida (FAQ)

We're not calling B.J. Daniels old; old people don't get 416 yards in a game. We're suggesting he may be immortal. (AP)

Rutgers and South Florida play a single game tonight that makes up the entirety of your Thursday college football viewing schedule. We’re sure you have so many questions.

• What information do I, the discerning consumer, need to consume this game? The Bulls and Scarlet Knights kick off in Tampa's Raymond James Stadium tonight at 7:30 p.m. ET. The game will be televised on ESPN.

When do we get to start watching multiple games on weeknights again? Not until October, but Wednesday football starts up next week with Kent State at Buffalo. Will you be watching that game just to see if a Kent State player manages to punt or kick a ball out of the stadium? Or something like that, yes.

• So what do I have to look forward to tonight? Well, it's two 2-0 teams playing in a conference game that was decided by an overtime field goal the last time they met. It'll also be the first time we really get to see this Rutgers team in full flower; the Scarlet Knights played at Tulane and hosted Howard in Weeks 1 and 2, winning both by a combined score of 50-12. USF opened regular-season play with Chattanooga and squeaked by Nevada last Saturday with a last-minute 56-yard touchdown courtesy of B.J. Daniels and Andre Davis.

• Good grief, B.J. Daniels is still playing college football? Seriously, this is the entire reason we have the Bulls listed as our 2012 surprise team in the Crystal Ball predictions. It seems like 10 years have passed since we saw him throw for 300 yards against Louisville, but we're still interested to see how he matches up against a Scarlet Knights defense that's been incredibly stingy thus far, albeit against markedly inferior competition.

• How goofy are you feeling right now for picking USF to win the Big East after they had trouble with Nevada? Not nearly as goofy as our colleagues who tabbed Utah as their surprise team. We're high on the Wolf Pack this year, and they did just beat Cal.

• Any freshly cherry-picked stats we should know about? Cherries are delicious, and there's just about nothing we like more than trolling the NCAA stats database for fun and misleading rankings after just one or two games. Here are a few: Rutgers is tied for first in the nation for sacks allowed, having allowed no players from the formidable defenses of Tulane or Howard to come near Gary Nova. The Scarlet Knights currently rank sixth nationally in total defense and 100th in total offense. USF sits at 105th in kickoff returns and is tied for seventh in sacks. Aren't early-season numbers fun?

• What should I, visiting Rutgers fan, do while in Tampa? Our sources tell us not to miss the Taco Bus, which is exactly what it sounds like, which is delicious tacos served out of a bus.
