No, really, NCAA action looming; more Designated Reads

We have at least three more weeks' worth of Sebastian photos on hand, just in case this Miami story keeps dragging on. (AP) We have at least three weeks' worth of Sebastian photos on hand, in case this Miami story keeps dragging on. (AP)

Assorted newsy bits -- of varying degrees of importance -- you might have missed over the long weekend:

• Didn't we already do this headline a week ago? "Imminent" can mean a lot of things! In the cosmic sense, the NCAA's investigation of Miami has spanned less than a fraction of an eyeblink, but here we are, riding on a human-speed space-time wave, just twiddling our bloggy thumbs until the 'Canes' notice of allegations drops. The latest rumblings, per Bruce Feldman, involve a very large book being thrown at ex-Miami and current Louisville assistant Clint Hurtt and other former 'Canes colleagues. We'll have more on this when we actually see the notice of allegations, unless we don't see this notice of allegations, in which case we'll be right back here next Monday writing a third variation on this same headline.

• And speaking of the NCAA: On the final day of the annual NCAA convention, the latest raft of changes -- touted as an effort to streamline NCAA regulations -- were unveiled. Your friendly neighborhood Bylaw Blogger takes a look at one proposal, regarding recruiting start dates, that was left out of the bundle.

• Te'o Things. The current talking point from Manti Te'o is that he was not playing below expected standards in the BCS title game due to the distraction from that whole Fake Dead Girlfriend Story ... Notre Dame had unsurprising reasons for not disclosing their knowledge of the hoax at an earlier date ...  Katie Couric is expected to speak to the Te'o family this week ... hey, lookit, another fake Notre Dame thing.

• Coach-hirin' season! Kliff Kingsbury rounds out his staff at Texas Tech ... Kevin Sumlin rightfully gets a raise ... Miami's offensive coordinator has been snapped up by the pros ... Andrew Luck's offensive coordinator at Stanford joins him in Indianapolis ... aaaand this happened.

• Roster blotter. Bryan Bennett is leaving Oregon ... South Carolina's Ace Sanders makes his NFL draft declaration official ... various comings and goings on Florida's roster ... Kansas' Turner Baty is leaving the Jayhawks after a year ... UNLV's Bradley Randle declares early ... Auburn's Shon Coleman gets a sixth year ... Charlie Weis announces linebacker Ben Heeney's misdemeanor battery charge will be handled internally.

• Realignment tidbit, grudgingly dispensed. Florida Atlantic and Middle Tennessee State will join Conference USA a year early, per Sources McMurphy.

• Tweet of the day, II.

• Misc. Mike Glennon, forever and totally doomed because of his wretched height ... there really are some neat perks that come with being President ... and who's college football's most expensive coach per win? WAIT. It's not Kirk Ferentz. I know, right?
