Spring ball rolls on apace

Joining the handful of FBS football teams already in practice, the following programs kick off spring ball this week: Air Force, Arizona, Boston College, Cal, Fresno State, Georgia, Houston, Indiana, Louisiana-Monroe, Maryland, Memphis, Miami, Nebraska, San Diego State, South Alabama, Stanford, TCU, Texas A&M and Texas State. And with spring ball come the tropes of spring ball. Jason Kirk has helpfully catalogued them all for your education:

No matter which college football team you root for, you're going to be reading about the same five or so people for the next two months. Let's get used to it now.

Your new quarterbacks are trying hard.

"It's not about last year or who's here or who's isn't here," said your head coach. "It's about getting out here and competing and seeing who is here, and that's where we're gonna go with that."

If we see anybody out there giving less than full 120 percent today, the whole internet is running stadium stairs at dawn. That's not who we are as a football internet. That's not the kind of program we want to be.
