Clint Trickett has found a new home. The former Florida State quarterback, who opted to transfer from the Seminoles last month, will join West Virginia. Trickett confirmed the news on his Twitter account Wednesday morning.

Trickett played in 16 games over his Florida State career, starting only two. He spent three seasons as a backup for both Christian Ponder and EJ Manuel and spent this spring competing for the starting spot in Tallahassee. However, redshirt freshman Jameis Winston emerged as the unofficial leader to win the job, prompting Trickett's decision to transfer elsewhere.

Trickett will compete immediately with junior Paul Millard and redshirt freshman Ford Childress as the Mountaineers look to replace departed star Geno Smith. Trickett has family in West Virginia, and his father, Rick, coached at the school in the 1970s.

Trickett threw for 947 yards, seven touchdowns and four interceptions in his Florida State career.
