A former Idaho football coach has filed a lawsuit against the school. Robb Akey, who was fired from his position as head coach last October, filed the suit on April 16 against the University of Idaho, the Board of Regents and the State Board of Education.

Akey was fired eight games into the 2012 season following a 1-7 start. The ex-Vandals coach says he is seeking proper compensation with the lawsuit. "All I'm looking for is getting the money I earned. I'm not looking for anything more than that. I just want a fair resolution," Akey told KREM 2 News.

An Idaho spokesperson told KREM that the university does not comment on pending litigation. According to the report, Akey made a base salary of $165,796 with a contract set to expire in December 2014.

Idaho hired Akey in 2007, and he compiled a record of 20-50 with the Vandals. He put together only one winning season, finishing 8-5 in 2009 and beating Bowling Green in the Humanitarian Bowl. The week before he was fired in October, Akey's Vandals suffered a 70-28 loss to Louisiana Tech in which they allowed 839 yards of offense.

Arkansas offensive coordinator Paul Petrino was hired as Idaho's head coach in December.
