The crystal football awarded to the winner of the BCS National Championship Game is reportedly on its way out the door -- just like the BCS itself.

Chuck Carlton of the Dallas Morning News reports that College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock confirmed that the impending playoff format will feature a new championship trophy. The BCS is set to end after the 2013 season, while the new College Football Playoff system will begin with the 2014 season.

No word yet on what the trophy might look like, but hopefully it will be a little more durable. Especially if Alabama keeps winning.
