Big East is dead; long live the Big East, I mean the American Athletic Conference

By Martin Rickman

It's American Athletic Conference Day everybody, so to celebrate, I got you all this sweet dance track:

Commissioner Mike Aresco came out firing at the conference's media day, saying the viability of the AAC is sustainable and that his schools deserve to be in a hypothetical Division IV, if such a division were to be created.

There was also another neat tidbit, being that the AAC has all but moved on from the Big East moniker. There is no history before the AAC, assuming of course there will be no history after the AAC either and who can we trust history is not real it is just a construct.

You know what they say:

"And if all others accepted the lie which the Conference imposed -- if all records told the same tale -- then the lie passed into history and became truth." Who controls the past," ran the Conference slogan, "controls the future: who controls the present controls the past." And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. "Reality control," they called it: in NCAAspeak, "doublethink."

Oh, wait that's 1984. My bad.
