Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the vandalism of Clemson's Howard's Rock, the school announced on Friday. Police arrested Michael J. Rogers, 46, and Alden James Gainey, 17, both from North Carolina. Rogers is the father of Micah Rogers, 18, who police previously arrested in connection with the vandalism.
Both the elder Rogers and Gainey were charged with felony counts of conspiracy and obstructing justice. They appeared in front of a Pickens County magistrate on Friday and were released on a personal recognizance bond of $7,500.
Rogers, a Clemson fan, told TheState.com that the allegations are untrue.
“My determination to find the truth has resulted with my being charged with a crime that I absolutely did not commit,” Michael Rogers told The State. “Unfortunately, my role in trying to find the truth has led to these allegations. Through my attorney, I’m happy to continue to work in every way possible to find the truth.”Howard's Rock was chipped -- and its protective casing damaged -- during an incident on June 2. The vandalism was partially caught by surveillance video.
