Junior Sean Mannion will start at quarterback for Oregon State in the Beavers' opener against Eastern Washington, the team announced on Monday.
Mannion beat out senior Cody Vaz, who took over for Mannion last season after the junior suffered a knee injury early in the year. Mannion has proven his abilities under center, having been named a Freshman All-American as a redshirt freshman starter in 2011 when he threw for 3,328 yards.
Mannion looked sharp in the first few outings of 2012, helping the Beavers reel off a 4-0 start by averaging 339.5 passing yards per game. But Mannion has been just as inconsistent as he has been productive in his Oregon State career, throwing 31 interceptions alongside his 31 touchdowns.
