Things aren't particularly calm and peaceful around Austin right now. Following Texas' 40-21 loss to BYU last weekend -- a game in which the Longhorns surrendered 550 rushing yards -- head football coach Mack Brown (who is under constant scrutiny) fired defensive coordinator Manny Diaz and replaced him with Greg Robinson. Now, a much bigger change may be set to take place. Orangebloods.com's Chip Brown is reporting that athletic director DeLoss Dodds will be out at the end of the year.

There is still time for Texas' football team to turn its season around heading into its Week 3 matchup with Ole Miss. But it's a circus for the Longhorns right now, and if this report is any indication, things don't look like they'll settle down any time soon.

Dodds has been at Texas since 1981, a tenure in which the football and basketball programs thrived before struggling in recent years. Here is perhaps the most interesting tidbit from the Orangebloods.com report:

But the high-ranking sources told Orangebloods.com Dodds plans to clear the way for a new athletic director by January, in part, because Dodds wants his successor to be able to make any hires that might be needed in the athletic program's biggest sports - football, basketball and baseball.

Keep in mind, this is just a report right now and these situations tend to be fluid. SI's Andy Staples spoke with Texas senior associate athletic director for communications Nick Voinis, who refuted the Orangebloods.com story.

"Three words," Voinis said. "Absolutely not true."
