Texas received some good news on the injury front on Friday when coach Mack Brown confirmed that quarterback David Ash was cleared by the Longhorns medical staff and will start Saturday's game against Kansas State.

Ash missed last week's loss to Ole Miss after injuring his head and shoulder against BYU in Week 2. Case McCoy started against the Rebels, throwing for 196 yards and one touchdown on 24-of-36 passing.

In almost two full games of action this season, Ash has thrown for 594 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions and is ranked as the team’s leading rusher with 125 yards. He also served as Texas' starter in 2012, throwing for 2,699 yards, 19 touchdowns and eight picks.
