What a brutal second half for Stanford. All-American safety Ed Reynolds now ejected for targeting.

After Florida's Brian Poole was called for targeting and San Jose State punter Harrison Waid was ejected for fighting, Stanford safety Ed Reynolds became the third player ejected in Week 4, and Texas's Steve Edmond later joined the list. In Reynolds' case, just like with Poole, the penalty was well-deserved, as Reynolds was head-hunting a bit on Arizona State quarterback Taylor Kelly. As part of the NCAA's revamped targeting penalty, Reynolds will also miss the first half of Stanford's next game against Washington State. Post-ejection, Stanford's defense gave up a Sun Devils' touchdown that cut the Cardinal lead to 39-28 with 6:15 to play. Stanford started the second half up 29-0 and was outscored 28-10 through that Sun Devils' score. David Shaw's team held on for a 42-28 win.
