Coming off a 42-28 win over Arizona State last week, Stanford is hoping to continue its early-season success. That will be a bit tougher against Washington State on Saturday, as the Cardinal will be without All-America offensive lineman David Yankey.

Yankey had to return home to Georgia because of a "family situation," according to coach David Shaw.

From ESPN.com:

"He had a family situation that he's got to go take care of," Shaw said. "He's in our thoughts and prayers. He's OK. But he'll be with his family this week. We hope to get him back soon."

Yankey is the anchor to a strong Stanford offensive line that is clearing the way for an average of 211 rushing yards per game, and which helped the Cardinal put up 42 points on the Sun Devils. He won't be the only Stanford starter missing time on Saturday. The defense will have to play the first half against the Cougars without safety Ed Reynolds, who was called for targeting late in the game against ASU. Sophomore guard Josh Garnett is second behind Yankey on the Cardinal depth chart and will start in his place.
