Texas quarterback David Ash will miss the Longhorns' game against Iowa State on Thursday with a head injury, the school announced on Wednesday.

According to Mike Finger of the San Antonio Express-News, Case McCoy will start in place of the injured Ash, and freshman Tyrone Swoopes could also see some time under center. Ash missed the second half of last week's 31-21 win over Kansas State with a head injury, and he had missed the previous week's game against Ole Miss with separate concussion-like symptoms. In the Longhorns' 44-23 loss to Ole Miss on Sept. 14, McCoy finished 24-of-36 for 196 yards and one touchdown.
