Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is expected to be named to the College Football Playoff's selection committee, a source told the Associated Press on Friday.

Rice is the latest in a string of reported members of the upcoming committee, which will select the four teams to participate in the College Football Playoff that kicks off after the 2014 season. Earlier this week, CBSSports.com reported that West Virginia athletic director Oliver Luck, Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez and USC athletic director Pat Haden are all expected to be named to the 12- to 18-member committee. On Friday ESPN reported that former Big East commissioner Mike Tranghese is also expected to join the committee.

Sources told CBSSports.com's Jeremy Fowler that each of the five power conferences -- the ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC -- are likely to have at least one representative on the committee. College Football Playoff executive director Bill Hancock has said that the committee members could be officially unveiled as soon as the end of the current regular season.

The AP also reported that a former Air Force Academy superintendent, as well as an ex-NCAA executive with experience working the NCAA basketball tournament, are both expected to join the committee. But Rice is the first reported member of the committee who has no current ties to college athletics. Still, that could be a good thing, as SI.com's Stewart Mandel notes.
