Former NFL quarterback and current college football playoff committee member Archie Manning took part in a Google Hangout to field questions from SI's Richard Deitsch, SB Nation's Dan Rubenstein and a few college journalists as a promotion for the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year award on Thursday.
Manning talked about a variety of coaches like Northwestern's Pat Fitzgerald and Penn State's Bill O' Brien, how much work the playoff committee is going to be, his calls with Peyton and Eli, as well as his sons' college recruitment. He also discussed the rise of big time broadcasts and graduation rates in college football.
As far as removing his own bias when it comes to joining the playoff committee, Manning reiterated it wouldn't be a problem at all.
"If I couldn't separate that I wouldn't agree to be on this committee," Manning said. "That wouldn't be fair. I don't think there's anyone on this committee who would do that. Who would get cheated would be the kids. That's what I'm going to think about when we study and try to get through this is who are the best four teams to get in this playoffs. The kids deserve that."
