Jimbo Fisher has committed to Florida State for the long term. The Seminoles' coach has signed a contract extension with the university through the 2019 season, Warchant.com reports.

According to the report, Fisher will become one of the 10 highest paid coaches in the country with a base salary of more than $4.1 million a year. Fisher had been rumored as a candidate to replace Mack Brown as the coach at Texas, but this extension likely takes him out of the running for what many consider to be the best job in college football.

In a statement, Florida State athletic director Stan Wilcox said Fisher's contract cements the coach as the cornerstone of the Seminoles' future.

"We are extremely please with the direction of our program and believe that this new contract will assure that Coach [Jimbo] Fisher is in place to lead the Seminoles for a long time to come. Coach [Jimbo] Fisher enjoys the full support of the leadership of the university and we look forward to the continued success of our football program on the field and in the classroom."
Florida State finished the season ranked No. 1, with a berth in the BCS title game against No. 2 Auburn. The Seminoles' 13-0 campaign was just the fourth perfect season in school history, and it pushed Fisher's overall record at Florida State to 44-10. In 2012, he and the Seminoles won the ACC championship and the Orange Bowl.
