Texas A&M redshirt sophomore wide receiver Mike Evans has declared for the NFL draft, the Aggies announced Thursday.

Evans capped a strong 2013 season with career-highs in receiving yards (1,394) and touchdowns (12). Evans was the only receiver in the country with more than 45 catches to average more than 20 yards per catch. He also led the nation with 17 catches of 30 or more yards.

Evans broke the school record for single-game reception yards twice with a 279-yard game against Alabama followed by a 287-yard game against Auburn. In a statement, Evans said his career at Texas A&M has been a great opportunity.

“After talking things over with Coach Sumlin and my family I have decided to enter the NFL draft,” Evans said. “Thanks go to Texas A&M for giving me an opportunity to play college football. Thanks also to my coaches and teammates for helping me develop as a player and as a man. I made this decision based on what I thought was best for myself and my family.”
