Top 2014 recruit Leonard Fournette commits to LSU

Leonard Fournette was ranked as the top running back in the country. Leonard Fournette was ranked as the top running back in the country.

Leonard Fournette is staying home. The five-star running back, widely regarded as the top player in the 2014 class, committed to LSU during Thursday's broadcast of the Under Armour All-America Game on ESPN.

Fournette, the No.1 overall player in the ESPN 300, is only the second running back (USC's Joe McKnight, 2007) to hold that distinction. The New Orleans product rushed for 1,802 yards during his senior season at St. Augustine High and ran for at least 1,700 yards in all four prep of his seasons.

Fournette selected the Tigers over Alabama and Texas.

The Louisiana native was a big get for coach Les Miles team on a day when the Tigers whiffed on another big-time prospect. ESPN's No. 1 rated athlete of 2014, Speedy Noil of Edna Karr High in New Orleans, selected Texas A&M as his school of choice. But LSU also received a commitment from talented four-star safety Jamal Adams out of Texas.
