As pressure mounts on Michigan head coach Brady Hoke, the Wolverines' headman decided to make a change to his staff on Wednesday. The school announced that offensive coordinator Al Borges would not return for the 2014 season.

Borges had been with Hoke since the 2009 season at San Diego State, after which he followed Hoke to Michigan in 2011. The Wolverines finished the 2013 season ranked 10th in the Big Ten with 373.5 yards per game, or 5.44 yards per play. Michigan also couldn't find a groove rushing the ball behind a troubled offensive line, averaging only 3.3 yards per carry, 11th in the conference.

Borges' attack ranked near the bottom of the Big Ten in third-down percentage, as well, converting only 39.2 percent of its attempts.

In a statement, Hoke thanked Borges for his work in Ann Arbor.

"Decisions like these are never easy," said Hoke. "I have a great amount of respect for Al as a football coach and, more importantly, as a person. I appreciate everything he has done for Michigan Football for the past three seasons."
The Wolverines still averaged 32.2 points per game, but Hoke had to make some sort of change after the worst season, record-wise (7-6), in his three years in Ann Arbor. This move puts pressure on Hoke to hire someone who can light a fire under the Michigan offense because Hoke's own job security will be on the line if the Wolverines produce another disappointing season.
