Penn State's coaching search may soon be over. The school athletic department's official Twitter account posted on Friday that the university will make a major announcement on Saturday afternoon at 4:15 p.m. University president Rodney Erickson and athletic director Dave Joyner will deliver the news.

Multiple outlets reported this week that Vanderbilt coach James Franklin was expected to be named the next head coach of the Nittany Lions. But other sources refuted those reports, maintaining that Franklin had yet to inform the Commodores of any decision regarding his future. Meanwhile, ESPN's Brett McMurphy reported on Friday that Franklin is expected to receive a Penn State contract worth up to $4.5 million per year.

So who ultimately lands at Penn State? Franklin and Miami coach Al Golden have been the two names most commonly linked to the opening, despite Golden's assertion that he remains firmly committed to the Hurricanes. On Friday, however, Penn State's official Twitter account provided a possible glimpse into the school's search with some interesting activity.

First, the university followed Franklin's official Twitter account.

Did Twitter reveal Penn State's intention to hire Franklin? It appeared that way until the Nittany Lions threw another social media curveball. Not long after following Franklin on Twitter, the school followed Golden, too.

What's going on in Happy Valley? It's possible the university is trolling the entire Internet -- in which case, bravo, Nittany Lions. All that's left is for Penn State to follow Mack Brown. Then maybe Nick Saban. Then Ed Orgeron, Lane Kiffin, Art Briles and Jim Harbaugh. Heck, re-follow Bill O'Brien for good measure.

Twitter might not survive.
