After his senior season was cut way too short by a gruesome knee injury, Cincinnati quarterback Munchie Legaux has been granted an additional year of eligibility. The NCAA approved his hardship waiver, the school announced on Wednesday.

Legaux, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound player from New Orleans, threw for 1,716 yards with 13 touchdowns and rushed for 335 yards as a junior in 2012. He went down in a 45-17 loss at Illinois on Sept. 7, and the Bearcats turned to senior Brendon Kay in his absence. Kay passed for 3,302 yards with a 22-to-12 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Cincinnati finished 9-4 in Tommy Tuberville's debut campaign, but lost to North Carolina 39-17 in the Belk Bowl.

Cincinnati has a few other quarterbacks on its roster, including Notre Dame transfer and former Rivals.com five-star recruit Gunner Kiel, who will be eligible in 2014.
