Texas A&M and UCLA will face off in non-conference battles in 2016 and '17, the schools announced Thursday.

The Bruins will play at Kyle Field for the first time on Sept. 3, 2016, and the next year the Aggies will travel to Pasadena, Calif., to play UCLA on Sept. 2.

“We are very pleased this series was able to come together and provides our program with an exciting, premier non-conference matchup against UCLA,” Texas A&M athletic director Eric Hyman said. “UCLA brings one of the top programs from the West Coast to the redeveloped Kyle Field in Aggieland, and for our Aggie team and the 12th Man to have the chance to play in the Rose Bowl is a historic opportunity.”

Texas A&M hasn't played a regular-season game on the West Coast since 1992, when it opened the season against Stanford.

The Aggies and the Bruins last played in the 1998 Southwestern Bell Cotton Bowl in Dallas, where No. 5 UCLA claimed a come-from-behind 29-23 win victory over 20th-ranked A&M. The two teams are tied in their all-time series at two wins apiece.

The Bruins also agreed to a home-and-home series with San Diego State during the 2019 and '20 seasons, Bruce Feldman of CBSSports.com reports. The two teams will face off in Pasadena on Aug. 31, 2019 and play the next year in San Diego on Sept. 19.
