UCLA defensive end Eddie Vanderdoes will miss the rest of spring with a broken foot, Bruins coach Jim Mora told reporters on Tuesday. Vanderdoes suffered the injury during conditioning drills, Mora said.

The 6-foot-4, 305-pound end, who started seven games for UCLA as a true freshman last season, was on a scooter and out of uniform on Tuesday. Mora said Vanderdoes should be back on both feet by the summer.

"You saw that Eddie Vanderdoes was on one of those three-wheelers," Mora said. "He broke his foot, for those of you who don't know it. He'll miss spring but he'll be good to go for summer."

Vanderdoes was a key cog on the Bruins' defensive line in his first season. The native of Auburn, Calif., made 39 tackles in 2013, including 11 against Stanford, the most by a UCLA defensive lineman since 1992.
