Ty Isaac, a Rivals.com five-star running back recruit in the class of 2013 announced on Wednesday that he is transferring from USC. The Joliet (Ill.) Catholic Academy product rushed for 236 yards as a freshman last fall and wants to play closer to home.

Via CBS' Eye on Football:

"I've been released from my scholarship at USC," Isaac said. "It was based on a family decision. My mom isn't well so I wanted to be closer to my family. I really enjoyed my time at USC but it's decision that I had to make and I made it."

Isaac once held offers from plenty of schools closer to Joliet than USC, including Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, Notre Dame, Northwestern, Purdue and Wisconsin, among others. He should have no shortage of options. The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder rushed for 5,305 yards in his high school career.

The Trojans still have depth in the backfield: Tre Madden, Buck Allen and Justin Davis all return.
