Notre Dame reinstates wide receiver DaVaris Daniels after spring suspension
Notre Dame has reinstated leading returning receiver DaVaris Daniels, the Associated Press reports.
Daniels was suspended for the spring semester in January due to academic issues. In February, he told CBSSports.com's Jeremy Fowler that his grades dropped below the required 2.0 GPA.
A senior academically, Daniels will have two seasons of eligibility remaining. Daniels had 49 catches for 745 yards and seven touchdowns as a redshirt sophomore in 2013, all second on the team behind graduating senior T.J. Jones. Daniels will rejoin a Fighting Irish offense that also brings back quarterback Everett Golson, who returns after a yearlong hiatus from the program. Notre Dame, which went 9-4 last fall, opens against Rice on Aug. 30.
