EXCLUSIVE:  Tom Izzo's Newest 20 Commit PG AJ Hoggard Talks Spartans!

EXCLUSIVE:  Michigan State Spartan Hall of Fame Coach Tom Izzo Added A Third Top Tier Recruit for his 2020 Class in PG AJ Hoggard & He Tells Us Why He Chose East Lansing!

Tom Izzo and Michigan State continued adding to its strong 2020 recruiting class when they received news that Huntington (WV) Prep 4-star point guard A.J. Hoggard announced his commitment to the Spartans on Sunday afternoon.

Hoggard chose the Spartans over offers from Florida, Louisville, Marquette, Maryland, Ole Miss, Oregon, and Pittsburgh, Providence, Virginia Tech, Rutgers and a handful of other Division 1 programs. Hoggard had Florida, Marquette, Providence and Ole Miss in his top five, but the Spartans were considered to be the favorites to land the standout guard for some time.

A 6-foot-3, 200-pound floor general, Hoggard is a big, physical point guard who is able to create for himself off the dribble and is also regarded as a solid shooter from 3-point range and already possesses advanced ball-handling and passing skills. Because of his size, skillset, and physicality, Hoggard is a near-perfect fit playing for Izzo and the Spartans and should be an immediate contributor when he arrives in East Lansing next year.

According to 247 Sports, Hoggard is the No. 71 ranked player and the No. 13 ranked point guard in the 2020 class, while Rivals also ranks the 6-foot-3 standout as the No. 71 player in the country, but ranks him as the No. 17 point guard in the class.

Hoggard joins a Michigan State recruiting class that already had 5-star forward Mady Sissoko and 4-star guard Jalen Terry and now the Spartans’ 2020 class is regarded as the No. 4 ranked class according to Rivals.
