UCI picks France to host 2015 track worlds

AIGLE, Switzerland (AP) Cycling's governing body has awarded the 2015 Track World Championships to the new national velodrome in France.

The UCI says the 5,000-seater arena at Saint Quentin en Yvelines near Paris will stage the event from Feb. 18-22.

The center opened in January and is home to the French Cycling Federation.

UCI President Brian Cookson says the track is ''destined to become one of the landmark venues of modern cycling.''

The UCI also awarded rounds of this season's Track World Cup to Guadalajara, Mexico, on Nov. 8-9; London on Dec. 5-7; and Cali, Colombia on Jan. 17-18.
