MONTPELLIER, France (AP) Mark Cavendish is aiming for his fourth victory in this year's Tour de France as the mostly flat Stage 11 gets underway.

Chris Froome is wearing the yellow jersey of overall leader for the third consecutive day.

With 29 career stage wins in the Tour, Cavendish sits second on the all-time list, five behind Eddy Merckx's record of 34 and one ahead of Bernard Hinault.

Setting up well for sprinters, Wednesday's stage follows a 162.5-kilometer (101-mile) route from Carcassonne to Montpellier near the Mediterranean coast.

Cavendish won mass sprint finishes in Stages 1, 3 and 6. He also has won in Montpellier before.

Froome will be looking to conserve energy ahead of Thursday's grueling climb to Mont Ventoux and the race's first time trial on Friday.
