Why Is This Important?

Because this guy did more pull-ups in a single day than 90 percent of people do in their entire lives.

Long Story Short

In honor of the sacrifices made by military men and women and their families on Memorial Day, Rodney Hahn did 6,844 pull-ups in 24 hours to set a new Guinness World Record.

Long Story

You can do 50 pull-ups in a row? Cool bro! Now try and do nearly five every minute for the entire day, non-stop.

Don't even try, you might hurt yourself — but despite being over 59 Rodney Hahn can do it, and he did.

On Memorial Day, the 55-year-old and former Navy service member on the USS John F. Kennedy, set a new Guinness World Record by breaking the previous record held by Jan Kares from the Czech Republic by 44 pull-ups.

And to make sure there were no cheat reps, official Guinness World Record judge Michael Empric was on hand to certify the record.

“Rodney’s Guinness World Records title attempt at most pull-ups in 24 hours was a true nail-biter, as he successfully broke the record with just minutes to spare,” said Empric in a press release. “While he had the physical stamina to complete the attempt, his mental perseverance helped carry him over the finish line.”

Besides pushing himself the the physical limit, Hahn and his team raised more than $7,890 for the Navy SEAL Foundation in honor of Memorial Day.

“I feel honored to bring the Guinness World Record back to the United States on Memorial Day in support of the Navy SEAL Foundation,” said Hahn in a press release. “The little bit of mental and physical pain I went through is my way of giving back and paying tribute to the sacrifices made by military men and women and their families every day."

A "little bit of mental and physical pain?" Jeez, what a champ. And here I was proud that I could do 3 sets of 12.
