Eric Lindros, one of hockey's most dominant players for nearly a decade, turns 40 today. Yes, you're old.

For eight seasons during the 1990s, Lindros was one of the NHL's most formidable power forwards, posting statistics than rank among the sport's all-time greats. As the headliner on the Flyers' famed Legion of Doom line alongside John LeClair and Mikael Renberg, Lindros averaged more than a point per game, won the league's MVP award in 1995 and led Philadelphia to the Stanley Cup Finals one year later.

But a series of concussions led to his exit from Philadelphia, where he left behind a complex legacy that's since given way to sympathy as the science of head injuries has advanced. After late-career stints with the Rangers, Maple Leafs and Stars, Lindros retired in 2007 at 34.
