The field has been trimmed from 68 to 16, but if you haven't been paying close attention so far, you're in luck: Here's everything you need to know about the positively sweet squads that survived the first three rounds of this year's Big Dance.

Florida Gulf Coast (100/1)

• The equipment manager has filthy dance moves.

La Salle (100/1)

• Tyrone Garland's name for his lay-up that lifted La Salle into the Sweet 16? The Southwest Philly floater. Both Garland's name and "Southwest Philly Floater" were trending worldwide on Twitter after the Explorers' win over Ole Miss.

• The North Philly school has taken down three ranked teams in a season (Butler, VCU, Kansas State) for the first time since the 1954-55 team defeated four. That side went all the way to the national title game before losing to Bill Russell's San Francisco Dons.

• The Golden Eagles are in the Sweet 16 for the third straight year, but looking to move past this stage for the first time since Dwyane Wade's 2003 team crashed the Final Four.

• Animal House was filmed there -- after 12 other colleges in six states reportedly said no.

• Dissed by the NCAA selection committee with a No. 12 seed, the Ducks responded by dismissing two favored opponents by a combined 30 points. They shot 72.7 percent from 3-point range Saturday, the best clip by any team in an NCAA tournament game since Boston College shot 75 percent in 2004.

• Colt Lyerla, a tight end on the football team, believes the Sandy Hook massacre was orchestrated by the U.S. government.

Wichita State (40/1)

• Their mascot is kind of scary.

• The Orange went 12 minutes without a field goal in Saturday's Round of 32 win over Cal to move through to the Sweet 16.

• They partied with Bill Clinton after winning the Big East title.

• 'Cuse guard Michael Carter-Williams’ house caught fire during Syracuse’s win over Cal, a game in which Carter-Williams put up 12 points.

Michigan State (16/1)

• Famous alumni include Bubba Smith, Magic Johnson and Chris Hansen of To Catch A Predator fame.

• A recent study by Michigan State scientists showed that ovulating women are more racist.

• The Michigan State drumline appeared in Oz The Great and Powerful. (Director Sam Raimi majored in English at MSU before dropping out to film The Evil Dead.)

Michigan (14/1)

• Michigan and Michigan State have made it to the Sweet 16 in the same tournament for the first time.

• The Wolverines have no shortage of NBA bloodlines: Tim Hardaway Jr., Glenn Robinson III and Jon Horford (younger brother of the Atlanta Hawks' Al) all contribute for Michigan.

• Michigan is back in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 1994. It is 10-1 all time at this stage.

Miami (8/1)

• Head coach Jim Larranaga floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.

• Their point guard is Barry Larkin's son.

• Their victory late Sunday night gave the state of Florida three teams in the Sweet 16 for the first time.

Duke (7/1)

• Sunday's ouster of Creighton was the 2,000th victory in program history. Duke is just the fourth Division I program to record that many wins, joining North Carolina, Kansas and Kentucky.

• The Blue Devils are in the Sweet 16 for the 13th time in 16 years, the most over that span by far.

• The delectable regional semifinal matchup with Michigan State on Friday (9:45 p.m. ET, CBS) pits arguably the two best coaches in the country against one another.

• The only coach with a losing record in the 115-year history of University of Kansas basketball is Dr. James Naismith.
