As we told you about on Tuesday, the web site 99 Designs ran a contest for graphic designers to create the new logo for the theoretically-rebranded Redskins. Perhaps in direct response to this, but more likely in response to the generally widespread call for the Redskins to change their objectively racist and derogatory name, team owner Daniel Snyder penned an open letter that included the defiance, tone-deafness, and circuitous logic that anybody who's been paying attention could have mad lib'd at this point.
Nevertheless, 99 Designs pushed on with their contest. They ultimately received over 1,900 entries. With the help of the journalists -- Washington Post reporter Robert McCartney, and SB Nation’s Ken Meringolo and Kevin Ewold -- who devised the new names for the competition, they've pared the submissions down to these final eight and are giving you the chance to vote for which you like best (though not necessarily on the winner):
