Correction: The Raptors have informed us that the team will be wearing their standard black alternates on Drake Night, and that Drake is expected to be in attendance. In other words: Ignore everything we said below.
The Raptors have been on quite a roll lately, after trading away Rudy Gay: four wins in five games, with three coming on the road, including one over the Thunder, who had been undefeated at home. Naturally, they're beginning to get a little confident. With the Nets—a team that used to be part-owned by, and that is still very much associated with, Jay Z—coming to town on January 11, the Raptors are, apparently, turning it into a hip hop battle by dubbing the evening “Drake Night”.
And—get this—the Raptors will wear special black and gold jerseys that were inspired by Drake, the team's "global ambassador," when they play the team from Brooklyn whose dominant brand color, black, was selected by Jay Z.
That’s about it, really, for “Drake Night." Drake won’t be in attendance, though his DJ will perform. There will be Drake related shirts on sale, too. But hey, the Raptors (13-15) are locked in right now, and they want to take some of that Brooklyn (10-20) swagger away.
