Michigan State kicked off the unofficial start of the college basketball season with an overtime victory over Ohio State last night. Spartans guard Keith Appling may have scored 20 points but MVP honors went to the 15,000 fans who performed the Daniel Bryan "Yes" chant at the Breslin Center. The game also saw two great freak-outs - one from coach Tom Izzoafter a referee's non-call and the other from Spartans forward Matt Costello after a dunk by teammate Adreian Payne. If this were 1979, I'd suggest the team celebrate at the East Lansing Arby's with Magic Johnson.
