'Hoop Dreams' Was Almost Called 'Hoopin''

(Via Kartemquin Films) (Via Kartemquin Films)

Film site The Dissolve has a massive oral history of Hoop Dreams up, and it contains a lot of interesting info for the 20th anniversary of one of the greatest sports documentaries of all-time.

One piece of the behind-the-scenes info included in the article is that the movie was almost called Hoopin', which would have been terrible. Director Steve James also says that he originally intended for the nearly three hour documentary to be a half-hour long special on PBS.

The whole article is as interesting as it is long, so you should probably get started on reading it right away.
