With the Utah Jazz set to honor recently retired coaching legend Jerry Sloan on Friday night, Barack Obama took some time to send his own personal regards via a handwritten note.

The note (pictured above) was read by Jazz owner Gail Miller during a luncheon honoring Sloan.

Here's a transcript in case you're having a bit of trouble making out the Commander-in-Chief's handwriting:

Dear Coach --

Congratulations on your long and remarkable career with the Jazz. Utah justly honors you for the standards of excellence you set with the Mailman and Stockton. But, us Bulls fans still claim you for your grit and work ethic. Best of luck in the future.

With great admiration,

Barack Obama

Sloan is the fourth-winningest coach in NBA history and, interestingly, would likely have coached the Jazz to multiple NBA championships if it hadn't been for Barack Obama's hometown Bulls. [Reddit]
