Jamaica's Bobsled Team Brought a Lucky Egg to the Winter Olympics

Monday February 17th, 2014

Upon learning that there would be a Jamaican bobsled team in Sochi, the Internet could hardly stop itself from dipping deep into '90s nostalgia (as it has a penchant to do from time to time) while referencing the classic Disney movie Cool Runnings.

More fuel was given to that flame when it was revealed that Jamaica's brakeman Marvin Dixon brought a lucky egg with him to the Games, a la this scene:

Unfortunately, after three runs in Sochi, Jamaica's team sits in 29th place out of 30 teams. But after becoming the first Jamaican sled to qualify for the games since 2002, and then overcoming lack of funding and lost luggage just to make it Sochi, this team gets a slow clap from me regardless.
