It's not often that a college football player with NFL potential decides to ultimately pursue a different career path, but it's apparent that Alex Amidon is not your average college football player. The Boston College standout -- Amidon holds the school's career record for receiving yards -- announced that he would forego the opportunity to try out for scouts so that he may attempt to become a Navy SEAL.

Amidon's fleet feet and reliable hands would certainly have drawn the interest of some NFL squads.

According to BC Interruption, Amidon broke the news at a BC recruiting dinner on Wednesday night.

Here's wishing him the best as he pursues this new, and most definitely admirable, career path.
