Nike Debuts New Air Jordan Designed for Skaters

(Via Nike) (Via Nike)

Nike has unveiled the first Nike SB X Air Jordan I, which revamps the iconic basketball shoe for skateboarders.

The move makes sense, as the original shoe was as much a hit with skaters as with sneakerheads and basketball players back in the 80's, according to Nike:

The supportive ankle height and Nike Air cushioning of the Air Jordan I, the very things applied to help Jordan hit terra firma with immunity, were perfect for vert's needs. The premium leather was more durable than the baked rubber, canvas and suede of other models, and the Air Jordan I soon became a skate favorite.

The shoe is set to drop March 15th, with more colors to follow throughout the year, including one designed by 80's skate hero Lance Mountain. I look forward to buying a pair and not using them to play basketball or go skateboarding.
