Texas Rangers To Sell Russell Wilson Merchandise

wilsonrangers2 Twitter/Texas Rangers

The Texas Rangers know a good marketing ploy when they see one.

Case in point? Russell Wilson.

After Wilson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2010, the Seattle Seahawks quarterback was was acquired by the Rangers during the 2013 Rule-5 draft.

Knowing Wilson would bring some major media presence to camp, Texas decided to invite the Super Bowl champion to Spring Training, where he'll participate in some drills (including stealing a base) on Monday afternoon.

As if that wasn't enough, you'll also be able to purchase Wilson memorabilia in Arlington and at the Rangers complex in Arizona, starting today:

Replica home white jerseys, royal and “Seahawk Green” t-shirts with “Wilson” and “3” on the back will also go on sale this Sunday at the Texas Rangers Team Shops at Globe Life Park in Arlington (open Sunday from 12 noon-5:00 p.m. CT) and Fort Worth (open Sunday 12 noon-6:00 p.m. CT). The merchandise will also be available at the Rangers Team Shop in Dallas, which is closed Sunday but opens on Monday at 10:00 a.m. CT.

So what happens if you're not in Arizona or Texas, and are instead, say, in Seattle? You might be out of luck.

As of right now, the Texas Rangers online store is not selling any Wilson gear nor can you customize any jersey or t-shirt with Wilson's name or number as you're given the following message:

Your current entry cannot be processed. Some entries are prohibited due to guidelines for past and present player names. Please create a new entry.

But fear not, Seattle-based folk, you can still  find a way to own some merchandise of the team that's in the same division as your Mariners very shortly, as  your favorite auction sites should be flooded with Wilson baseball gear in the very near future.
