Ridiculous Sequence of Events Leads to High School Buzzer Beater

Last night in a Michigan high regional title game knotted at 47 with only 0.8 seconds on the clock, Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart's Dustin Neyer heaved up an off-balance three after fielding the ball off an inbounds pass that hit the backboard.

"The way it was set up, I was supposed to set a screen for Gamble right at the top of the key," Neyer said. "But Brooks threw it a little hard off the backboard and somehow it landed in my hands. At first I thought the clock had run out, but then I realized you have to touch it for the clock to start."

Neyer heaved it up and somehow -- thanks to gravity and some luck, I gather -- it went in.
