You may not know her by name, but I'm pretty sure at some point you've heard Lorde's massive radio hit 'Royals'.

But what you may not have known is the top-selling song is actually based off of the Kansas City Royals, specifically former star George Brett.

Lorde, a native New Zealander says she used to read old issues of National Geographic and came across a 1976 photo of Brett signing baseballs, wearing his Royals uniform.

Oddly enough, that photo inspired the hit song and prompted the Royals to send the pop singer an autographed George Brett jersey (and photo).
