Peyton Manning spoke at the University of Virginia's commencement on Saturday and his speech included this memorable quote: “When you’re chided for your naiveté, and you will be, remind your critics that an amateur built the ark. Experts built the Titanic.” Hard to believe it was just 16 years ago when Manning was receiving his diploma from the University of Tennessee. With graduation season in the air, I thought this gallery of athletes receiving their diploma was appropriate.

The Premature Celebration Club

The Premature Celebration Club welcomed two new members this weekend. Spain's Eloy Teruel had a comfortable lead at the seventh stage of the Tour of California when he spotted the finish line and started celebrating. The only problem was there was still another lap to go. He was quickly passed by other runners and finished 56th. Not to be outdone, Algeria's Taoufik Makhloufi put his arms out to celebrate a victory in a 800m race in Shanghai, only to be passed in the final second. Makhloufi was even given his victory flowers before a race official took them away and informed him of the loss. Somewhere, DeSean Jackson is smiling.

The Fattest Team in Baseball

Best Tickets published its unofficial 2014 MLB Player Census with a bunch of interesting charts, including the average salary at each position (first basemen make the most, relief pitchers make the least), states that produce the most players per 1 million residents (South Dakota is No. 1) and teams with the fattest players (the food is really good in Pittsburgh).
