Amateur MMA Fighter Taps Out While Winning Bout to be a Good Sport

You know the scene in Rocky IV where Ivan Drago is pummeling Rocky early in their fight and the announcer says, "They might have to stop this before somebody gets killed," because Drago killed Apollo Creed in an exhibition match earlier in the movie?

If not, just go to the 2:40 mark of this video. And then go download Rocky IV, for crying out loud.

Anyway, Mike Pantangco didn't need the announcer to tell him to stop the fight. Dominating his Prison City Fight League bout against Jeremy Rasner, Pantangco backed away from Rasner and tapped out so as not to hurt his opponent. He even paraded Rasner around the cage after the match with his opponent's hand raised.

Said Pantangco after the match: "I just feel that there's no point in fighting him because he didn't train against me and I didn't train for him and I just feel like we're amateur fighters. We don't get money, we don't get paid. And I know that the only thing I'm going to finish the fight is him to go in the hospital or get hurt. I just feel terrible so I'm just going to give him the win."

Well played, Mike. Many of your fellow sportsmen could learn something from you.
