It should have been expected that tickets to watch the Rangers play in their first Stanley Cup Finals in 20 years would cost a pretty penny, but this is getting truly absurd. Below are, as of Monday morning, the the cheapest tickets available to Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Finals in New York City according to popular second-hand ticket website Stubhub.com:

By comparison, the cheapest ticket currently listed for Game 1 of the Finals in L.A. is a downright affordable (for someone, probably) $479.

But for those prone to lighting cigars with $100 bills, you can lock down lower bowl seats to Game 3 of the Finals at center ice for a paltry $4,500 which is only $1,500 more than the average monthly rent in NYC:

And for the hedge fund managers still reading, the highest cost for a ticket that I could find listed on Stubhub for Game 3 was more than $75,000 per seat, or roughly $25,000 more than the median yearly income for a family in the United States:

But this is only for Game 3 of the series, if a game 6 takes place in New York, tickets prices could truly hit the stratosphere, with the cheapest tickets currently available to said game sitting at $1,700 on Stubhub.

As unimaginable as it seems, tickets to this series could have been even more expensive had the Blackhawks advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. According to Jesse Lawrence of Forbes, had the Blackhawks faced the Rangers, the cost of tickets for the series would average over $2,000 for the first time since TiqIQ has kept track of data.
