New A's pitcher Jeff Samardzija may be a National League All-Star (even though he now plays in the American League), but Oakland fans are still getting introduced to him.

So forgive them if they're not sure how to spell his name yet. It's a tough one, after all.

But those A's fans are crafty. After three failed attempts at spelling S-A-M-A-R-D-Z-I-J-A, an Oakland fan who watched the team's new fireballer dazzle in his A's debut on Sunday decided to just go with his nickname — Shark — and that works just fine for us.
