Astros' LJ Hoes hit a game-winning home run for his mom on her birthday

Houston Astros outfielder LJ Hoes hit a game winning home run for his mom on her birthday.

Houston Astros outfielder LJ Hoes gave his mom an amazing birthday present Tuesday when he delivered on her request for a home run by hitting a game winner in the top of the 12th inning.

Gale Hoes told her son to "hit a homer for me" earlier in the day before taking a birthday trip to the beach with Hoes' sister. The 24-year old said he was not sure if she was able to stay awake for the extra innings on her big day, but that his father had already called to congratulate him.

Hoes had been experiencing a bit of a power outage, having not hit a home run since May 13, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Maybe Astros manager Bo Porter should have Mrs. Hoes call up the clubhouse on speaker phone before each game. Then the team won't have to wait until 2017 for that World Series.
