The odds of winning the Colts' weather contest are ridiculously high

When told you last month about the Colts' offer to give $500,000 to any fan who correctly guessed the game-time temperature for all 20 games this season, it certainly seemed like a difficult task to pull off. Well thanks to the math gurus at FiveThirtyEight.com, we know now just how tough it is.

The way FiveThirtyEight's Matt Lanza figured this all out is actually really interesting and totally worth reading, but it all boils down to this: The odds of correctly predicting the weather for 20 days spread out over six months all across North America are 1 in 248 septillion. That's 1 in 248,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000. Look at all those zeroes!

If you still want to enter, though, you have until noon Eastern on Thursday. Good luck, you'll need it.
